DEAL: Coach of the Bruins: “Indeed” A contract will be signed by Jeremy Swayman….
Boston Bruins goalie Jeremy Swayman remains unsigned, but there is optimism that a long-term deal will be reached soon. Coach Jim Montgomery expressed his belief that Swayman will be a Bruin at the start of training camp and ready to go. Swayman emerged as Boston’s No. 1 goalie throughout the regular season and playoffs, playing all but one game for the Bruins before being eliminated in the second round by the Florida Panthers. He finished the regular season with a 25-10-8 record with a 2.53 goals-against average and a.916 save percentage. As a restricted free agent, other teams can sign Swayman to an offer sheet, but if any goalie-needy team were to go that route, they would likely need to offer at least $9 million and several draft picks. Training camp begins on September 18, and while the contract isn’t a done deal, it appears it’s just a matter of time before pen is put to paper.
