JUST IN: Philadelphia Phillies insider to shares a viral moment with Nick Castellanos after hitting a home run

Right fielder Nick Castellanos of the Philadelphia Phillies went deep against the Minnesota Twins on Saturday, but it wasn’t his home run that grabbed attention.

With a no-doubter to left field to start the second inning, Castellanos tied the score at one. Then, with a deft manoeuvre, he trotted around the bases after dropping his bat in the box.

Nick’s 10-year-old son, Liam Castellanos, was assigned to tidy up after his father because he was the Phillies bat boy on Saturday.

But rather than carrying out his duty, the younger Castellanos stood by and saw his father’s home run across the fence.

When Castellanos returned to home plate, his bat was still on the ground. He gestured to his kid to go get it quickly. Before second baseman Bryson Stott could take the field, Liam realized he was running late and hurried out onto the field to retrieve his dad’s bat.

Furthermore, this wasn’t the first time Castellanos and his son went viral following a home run.

Liam was seated behind home plate during a Milwaukee Brewers game in July of last year. Crushing one to the left, Castellanos gestured to his son as he began to circle the bases, then stopped briefly for a handshake before heading back to the dugout.

In his big league career, the soon-to-be 32-year-old has made two appearances in All-Star Games and taken home one Silver Slugger.
