The idea that Halas Hall is in agreement that the Chicago Bears should trade Justin Fields and choose quarterback Caleb Williams with the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft is refuted by a recent report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
A few Bears brass members favour keeping H1M.
Bears general manager Ryan Poles made a hint last week at the NFL Combine that he planned to attempt to move Fields prior to free agency. But during the week, as more experienced quarterbacks got ready to enter free agency, Fields’ trade value plummeted.
Now, some in Chicago are okay with Fields staying with the Bears through the draft.
According to a Schefter quotation published by Sky Skruse for Bears Wire, “some” organization members desire Fields’ return in 2024:
“It’s another wrench in the works, but I believe there are people in the organization who would prefer to see him [Justin Fields] stay there as well.”
Fields has the endorsement of Bears President Kevin Warren, who stated as much in an interview with WGN 9 last month.
“I am in favour of Justin because I had the opportunity to collaborate with him during my tenure as the Big Ten Conference Commissioner,” stated Warren. “He has extraordinary talent. He is intelligent. He puts in a lot of work. He also aspires to be a fantastic NFL football player. All he has to do now is make sure he has the support system in place. He is putting in a lot of effort at work. In order to ensure he is completely healthy for the upcoming season, I would really love to visit him this offseason.
Warren expressed his satisfaction that Fields was a member of the Bears and complimented him on his many marketable abilities.
Warren remarked, “Justin possesses a unique blend of intelligence, size, strength, and speed.” Until you’re up on him, you don’t realize what a large man he is. He is a large man. I simply believe that he will continue to improve every year.
Warren’s summary has a flaw in that not many teams are accepting the sales offer. Fields’s market isn’t particularly strong prior to free agency. And that ought to be even more evidence that the Bears brass ought to embrace the notion that they ought to trade Fields and choose Williams in the draft.
