Jakob Poeltl, a centre for the Toronto Raptors, had surgery on his left little finger, which has left him out indefinitely. According to the team, the procedure took place in New York on Tuesday. During Sunday’s 111-106 victory over the Charlotte Hornets, he dislocated his finger. Due to a sprained left ankle early in the season, Poeltl missed 11 games. Out of 50 games (all starts), the 28-year-old Austrian is averaging 11.1 points and 8.6 rebounds. In 538 games (285 starts) with the Raptors (2016–18, 2023–present) and San Antonio Spurs (2018–23), he has career averages of 8.3 points and 6.7 rebounds.
On Monday, All-Star forward Scottie Barnes had surgery to fix his fractured left hand. For the Raptors, he’s also out indefinitely. The Raptors, at 23-29 and in 12th place in the Eastern Conference, are presently out of the running for the playoffs. On Thursday night, they’ll take on the Suns in Phoenix.
