Bo Nix of Oregon was chosen by the Denver Broncos with the No. 12 overall choice on Thursday night, one of the six quarterbacks chosen in the first round of the NFL Draft.
Sean Payton believed that the Broncos needed another rival, even after they acquired Zach Wilson, a former first-round quarterback for the New York Jets.
They thought the Pac-12 standout was worthy of the selection.
After being selected, Nix had an extremely thrilling message for Broncos supporters.
“I can’t wait to play for the Broncos. Such a dream come true, this. Denver was my top choice from the beginning,” the 24-year-old said on Thursday night.
The message from Bo Nix to Broncos Nation:
“I can’t wait to play for the Broncos. Such a dream come true, this. Denver was my top choice right away.
“Leave, Broncos Country!”
Bo Nix has joined Zach Wilson, Jarrett Stidham, and the quarterback room in Denver.
With Wilson having the most recent starting experience and Stidham, at 27, having the most experience of the three, it should begin as a true competition.
In the long run, Nix ought to be the starter.
Similar to Payton’s renowned, Super Bowl-winning quarterback Drew Brees of New Orleans, he was a major contributor in college.
He really started five seasons total during his tenure with the Oregon Ducks and Auburn Tigers.
That’s a different matter entirely.
At the collegiate level, he witnessed everything from explosive offences in the Pac-12 to elite defences in the SEC.
His background in big games is an added plus.
Before assuming the starting role, anticipate that he will wait and learn for a few games.
Fans of the Broncos should be excited because this is Sean Payton’s man.
Keep in mind that Russell Wilson wasn’t.
