During the 2023 season, the Detroit Lions were among the NFL’s most unexpected teams.
The squad finally pulled everything together and won the division for the first time after years of trying to establish a presence in the NFC North.
They continued on, defeating the San Francisco 49ers all the way to the NFC Championship.
While making it to the NFC championship game was undoubtedly a success, this squad does not intend to aim for that in 2024 or later.
The Lions’ offseason signings show that they plan to exert every effort to make it to the Super Bowl this season.
They strengthened their defensive line by adding D.J. Reader, which ought to greatly benefit an already potent group.
Reader discussed his future plans on The Jim Rome Show after leaving the Cincinnati Bengals to sign with the Lions.
The reader expressed, “I don’t see any obstacles preventing me from returning to my previous position as a player.” I rank among the top three players at my position when I’m on the field.
Reader has recently battled ailments that have prevented him from playing in crucial games.
He feels well and is prepared to go, so he doesn’t think that will be the case in 2024, as he stated on Rome’s show.
Even if this might be the case, things might not go as smoothly as he hopes if any of his ailments are bothering him or are lurking in the background.
What Reader can accomplish for a young Lions team is still unknown.
