After his knockout victory over Francis Ngannou, “AJ” was promised a crack at the undisputed world title, and winning three times may delay his retirement schedule.
Supporters believe Anthony Joshua will continue boxing until he is forty years old, provided he wins three world titles.
Joshua’s decisive KO victory over former UFC champion Francis Ngannou puts him in position for the next opportunity to challenge for the undisputed global titles. After suffering two defeats at the hands of Oleksandr Usyk, “AJ” has turned a new page in his career. Depending on the outcome of their highly anticipated bout next month, he may square off against the Ukrainian once more or eventually take on Tyson Fury in the ring.
After teaming up with Fury’s former trainer Ben Davison, some fans believe “AJ” has reverted to his previous destructive style, and one of Joshua’s sparring partners has acknowledged that he is now extremely confident. “AJ didn’t seem afraid at first. He’s very confident, which makes a difference,” Jeamie TKV told Boxing News.
“What Ben and Lee Wylie are teaching him is what he believes in. That’s what offers him the courage to carry out his actions. I simply have the feeling that AJ will win the world championship three times, and the pace he’s progressing, he may even extend his career by five years. Joshua and Jeamie have a history together, as the Brit’s coach helped him prepare for many victories last year.
It was excellent. I had a great time camping with him, you know. It was enjoyable. We enjoyed our time sparring. Among my most enjoyable spars. He seemed to enjoy the spar as much as I did. I sparred with him a lot during the final two weeks of camp. AJ was powerful and incisive. It was enjoyable,” he said.
Regardless of the outcome of their fight on May 18 in Saudi Arabia, Fury and Usyk have agreed to fight twice, therefore ‘AJ’ is unlikely to compete for the undisputed titles until the following year. If Fury is able to overcome Usyk, Frank Warren, Fury’s promoter, stated that March is the most likely month for the domestic bout.
“Next March, if Tyson does what I believe he’ll do and AJ continues to win, I’m sure that’ll set up a big fight.”What’s happening right now is akin to traveling back to the late 1960s or early 1970s. “These guys are fighting each other,” Warren said to Sky Sports, acknowledging that the battle is probably going to happen in Saudi Arabia rather than the UK.
