The Philadelphia Phillies have announced that they will debut their City Connect uniforms on Friday morning.
On April 5, the unveiling will take place in the New Era Team Store at 10 a.m. ET. The Phillies have said that at first, that will be the only spot in Philadelphia where authorized City Connect gear will be available for purchase.
The Phillies intend to hold a free block party on Citizens Bank Way that evening from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. ET, indicating the magnitude of the event the team hopes to have. Shane Victorino, Mickey Morandini, Milt Thompson, Larry Andersen, and the Phillie Phanatic will be among the guests. That evening, the Phillies will travel to face the Washington Nationals; however, the game will be broadcast live on a large screen during the block party.
The Phillies’ official on-field debut of the City Connect uniforms will take place on Friday, April 12th against the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 2024, all Friday home games will wear the City Connect uniforms, according to the Phillies.
Paul Lukas of Uni Watch discovered an eBay sale back in January that seems to be the City Connect jerseys the Phillies will wear, even though we still don’t know what the pants and cap will look like. The Phillies did not deny the listing, but their silence suggests that these are the City Connect connections, even in the absence of confirmation.
Following the launch of the City Connect uniform program under Nike/Fanatics in 2021, Philadelphia will be the 21st franchise to do so.
The Cleveland Guardians, Detroit Tigers, St. Louis Cardinals, New York Mets, Toronto Blue Jays, Tampa Bay Rays, Minnesota Twins, and Los Angeles Dodgers will all release new concepts prior to the All-Star Break.
The Phillies are the first team of the season to reveal new City Connect uniforms. The Dodgers will launch a second City Connect jersey, making them the first team to do so. The Oakland Athletics and New York Yankees will be the only clubs without City Connect uniforms by the end of the season.
