Owner of the Kansas City Chiefs Clark Hunt recently talked about the controversy surrounding a purported pledge he gave to his players.
The NFLPA published their 2024 annual team report cards last month. In these reports, NFL players rate their teams on several facets of their general working environment. 1,706 players submitted scores to the NFL, 47 of them were on the 2023 Chiefs.
According to a few Chiefs players who responded to the poll, Hunt had tricked them. According to some reports, Hunt committed to remodeling the Chiefs’ practice facility following the 2022 season. Since then, no such remodeling has taken place.
Only the Washington Commanders were lower in each category than the Chiefs, who came in at number thirty-one in the rankings for their training staff (F), locker room (F), and training room (D).
Hunt recently talked about the purportedly made-up promise to renovate the training center. The 59-year-old owner discussed the problem with Nate Taylor and Kalyn Kahler of The Athletic, claiming that he had never indicated such a refurbishment and that it was just a “miscommunication.”
Hunt stated, “I’ve talked to some of our more seasoned players about it, and they’ve confirmed to me that there was a misunderstanding.” To be sure, I never brought up the topic of the locker room renovations with them. There was a miscommunication.
The Chiefs are growing its team cafeteria, which came in at number 26 in the survey after receiving a C- from the players. Hunt continued. Although he withheld specifics, Clark allegedly stated that other enhancements were being considered.
Out of all the NFL owners, Hunt received the lowest grade. Players for the Chiefs graded him an F-.
In every one of the 11 categories, Kansas City’s overall team score was the lowest. This is true even if head coach Andy Reid received the best grade in the NFL—an A+. Given that Reid is always giving the athletes captivating motivational speeches, it’s simple to see why they adore him.
