In 2024, who will be the Las Vegas Raiders’ under center?
When the team is on the clock at 13th overall in ESPN’s most recent 2024 NFL mock draft, the Las Vegas Raiders will be selecting a very intriguing selection.
Miller has the Raiders choose Oregon quarterback and 2023 Heisman Trophy finalist Bo Nix, despite the Raiders signing experienced signal caller Gardner Minshew to a two-year, $25 million contract this off-season.
In addition to having experienced quarterback Gardner Minshew sign a free agent contract and having Aidan O’Connell return, the Raiders might still add a starter quarterback in the first round if one becomes available. Over the course of five seasons, Nix, who started 61 games for his collegiate team, passed for 113 touchdowns and ran for another 38. Under new coordinator Luke Getsy, he would provide the Raiders offense with the dual-threat element it needs. After staying quiet in free agency on the offensive line, the Raiders may also be interested in a wide receiver or right tackle at this time.
The 2023 Las Vegas Raiders Season Was Disappointing
For the Las Vegas Raiders in 2023, there were great expectations. Midway through the season, wide receiver DaVante Adams is a dissatisfied star for the team; Jimmy Garoppolo was benched in favor of rookie Aidan O’Connell, and Josh McDaniels was fired as head coach.
On national television, the Raiders defeated the Los Angeles Chargers 63-21, which ignited a 3-1 run for the black and silver to close the season. However, interim head coach Antonio Pierce gave the team a significant lift. Some players, most notably standout pass rusher Maxx Crosby, vowed to demand a trade this off-season if Pierce wasn’t made the team’s full-time head coach, which he eventually was.
