SAD NEWS: Kansas City Chiefs Cheerleader Dies of Sepsis

Krystal “Krissy” Anderson, 40, passed away following three surgeries for her daughter Charlotte’s stillbirth.

Former Kansas City Chiefs cheerleader Krystal “Krissy” Anderson passed away from sepsis on March 20 after giving birth to her daughter Charlotte Willow at 21 weeks gestation. She was forty years old.

As per the GoFundMe established in her memory, Krissy’s struggle with sepsis resulted in organ failure, necessitating her placement on life support.After that, she “had three surgeries, but the infection’s source remained mysterious.”

“In the early hours of March 20, surrounded by her devoted family, sweet Krissy passed away,” the memorial said. Her witty answers never failed to make people laugh and smile, and her bright smile could light up even the darkest space. She left her mark on everyone who was lucky enough to know her because she loved with all of her heart.”

Clayton William Anderson, Krissy’s spouse, discussed his loss with the local Fox4 affiliate. He said, “I feel lost.” “This house feels empty even though there are a lot of people in it.”
Sepsis is defined as “a serious condition in which the body responds improperly to an infection” by the Mayo Clinic. Death from septic shock can result from sepsis. Approximately 270,000 persons in the United States pass away from sepsis each year, with at least 1.7 million cases of the illness occurring annually, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

According to her obituary, Anderson worked as a software engineer and yoga instructor after supporting the Chiefs from 2006 to 2011 and again from 2013 to 2016.
Anderson received a patent for creating software that evaluates the risk of postpartum hemorrhage while he was an engineer at Oracle Health.

According to the obituary, “Krystal radiated joy and laughter to everyone she encountered.” She worked with Gabriella’s Little Library, the First Hand Foundation, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kansas City because she was a philanthropist with a great heart. She zealously promoted women’s health and black women in STEM fields.”
Her daughter and her first child, James Charles, who also passed away in infancy, preceded Krissy in death.
“She was loved and adored by her teammates, fans, and strangers who were never strangers for long,” the Kansas City Chiefs cheerleaders wrote on Instagram in remembrance of Anderson. She served as an alumni role on gameday, at practices, and at functions, continuing to share her love of dance and Chiefs cheer.
We shall miss her glitter, happy energy, and gentle disposition. Her family and loved ones are in our thoughts and prayers. We will always treasure the time we spent with her. We will reveal later how we intend to carry on her legacy ❤️💛.
