De Los Santos'

After being DFA’d, the Yankees’ trade deadline acquisition receives the worst punishment imaginable….

In order to increase their chances of making a deep postseason run, the New York Yankees were aggressive during the trade deadline, executing three separate transactions.

The two biggest names that New York acquired were Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Mark Leiter Jr. However, they also made a small trade with the San Diego Padres in which they obtained Enyel De Los Santos, who provided additional reinforcement to the bullpen.

De Los Santos had just a 4.46 ERA in 44 appearances for the Padres, so the trade was a little odd, but if there’s one thing Brian Cashman is good at, it’s finding underappreciated relievers and watching them grow into valuable players under pitching coach Matt Blake’s guidance.

Regretfully, De Los Santos wasn’t New York’s most recent triumph.

After being claimed by the White Sox, Enyel De Los Santos’ season hits a new low.

Naturally, the White Sox had to claim De Los Santos out of all the teams who were able to. It makes sense because the right-hander faced those same White Sox in his last game before being designated for development. In just 1.2 innings of work, he gave up seven runs in a demoralizing defeat. At the time, the White Sox had a 28-91 record.

For De Los Santos, who should pitch a lot for a White Sox team that will lean on its bullpen frequently, this news is encouraging on the one hand. Conversely, the White Sox have a 30-93 record. Is it enjoyable to be a member of a 30-93 team?
