Reports: Orioles landing Marlins LHP Trevor Rogers
Multiple media sources state that left-hander Trevor Rogers is being acquired by the Baltimore Orioles from the Miami Marlins. The Marlins obtain outfielder Kyle Stowers and highly touted infielder/outfielder Connor Norby in return. Rogers, 26, has made 21 starts with the Marlins this season and is 2-9 with a 4.53 ERA. Rogers, who made his Miami debut in 2020, is 15-32 with a 4.23 ERA in 80 starts and was named an All-Star in 2021.
Norby, the Orioles’ fifth-ranked prospect, was let go by the American League East-leading team, according to MLB Pipeline. After making his Major League debut on June 3, Norby, 24, batted.188 in nine games for Baltimore, with two home runs and three RBIs. With 80 games played at Triple-A Norfolk, he is slashing.297/.389/.519 with 16 home runs, 57 RBIs, and 13 steals. After 19 games this season with Baltimore, 26-year-old Stowers is hitting.306 with one home run and nine RBIs. He is a.229 hitter in 67 games over the course of three seasons, with four home runs and 20 RBIs.
The Orioles selected Stowers in the same round in 2019 and selected Norby in the second round of the 2021 draft. Following the trade of three players for right-hander Zach Eflin with the Tampa Bay Rays, Rogers becomes the second starting pitcher the Orioles have added this week. They join a rotation that already consists of Albert Suarez, Dean Kremer, and Corbin Burnes. Grayson Rodriguez also plays in this rotation. –Media at the Field Level
