REPORT: Orioles Swap 3 Prospects for $40-Million Starter in USA….

Orioles Swap 3 Prospects for $40-Million Starter in ‘Splash’ Trade.

The MLB trade deadline is July 30. The Baltimore Orioles are not waiting for that day. To strengthen their pitching staff, they have made two trades, including one for Zach Eflin, a starting righty.

Three prospects, Matthew Etzel, Jackson Baumeister, and Jackson Baumeister Jackson Baumeister, were transferred by Baltimore in exchange for the starting pitcher for the Tampa Bay Rays.

The New York Post called the move a “splash” for the Orioles. With 19 starts this season, Eflin is 5-7.

Having tossed 110 innings in 2024, the 30-year-old is in the second season of a three-year contract for $40 million. Eflin has a 4.09 ERA, 87 strikeouts, and has given up 14 home runs.

Brandon Hyde Regarding Eflin: “A Genuine Expert”
After Baltimore’s 6-4 loss to the San Diego Padres, manager Brandon Hyde was questioned concerning the team’s recently acquired starter.

On July 26, Hyde told reporters, “Zach is someone we’ve seen a lot and I’ve heard unbelievable things about him.” “The postseason has tested him. He is an absolute pro. Everyone is raving about what an amazing guy he is and what he can do for the clubhouse and our group.
