BREAKING NEWS: Steelers Rookie Named Best UDFA

Pittsburgh When the Pittsburgh Steelers acquired West Virginia All-American Beanie Bishop as an undrafted free agent, they might have discovered a hidden gem at cornerback.

After the 2024 NFL Draft class’s UDFA signings, NFL Network’s Chad Reuter dissected his ranking of the best players at each position. The Steelers’ own Bishop is ranked as the best undrafted cornerback in the class.

The Kentucky native, who is five feet ten inches tall, finished first in college football last season with twenty pass breakups. He also added four interceptions and 67 tackles to his stats. At the Big 12 Pro Day, he ran a 4.39 40-yard dash and demonstrated his potential to play inside as a cornerback.
The Daily Athenaeum on X: "Beanie Bishop Jr., Doug Nester and Devin Carter were signed as undrafted free agents by the Pittsburgh Steelers, Minnesota Vikings and Carolina Panthers respectively on Saturday. https://t.co/iHSSAUwDWk" /

Bishop might be able to make the team and get some playing time as a rookie if he joins the Steelers. With Bishop’s potential, the team may have a competition for the starting slot cornerback position by the end of training camp. Currently, the position is vacant.

The West Virginia product has genuine benefits. Although he will need to adapt his style for the NFL, most believe he has potential.
