MILWAUKEE — Tyrese Haliburton, a guard for the Indiana Pacers, claimed that during Game 1 of their Eastern Conference first-round playoff series against the Milwaukee Bucks, a fan used a racial insult intended at his younger brother.
Following the Pacers’ 125-108 Game 2 triumph over the Bucks on Tuesday night, Haliburton remarked, “My little brother in the stands the other day was called an N-word.” “It was crucial that we just talk about that as a family. We needed to have a conversation about that because it wasn’t something that our family members agreed upon. Simply put, having my family close by has been crucial, and my younger brother has managed that well.
Haliburton’s remarks were questioned by the Bucks following Tuesday’s match.
A Bucks official answered, “An arena guest services representative reported that during Sunday’s game, a few guests were not sitting in their correct seats.” “The group was instructed to relocate one section to their assigned seats by the guest services agent. Then, one of the group members told the representative that the person seated in front of him had called him a dirty word. The person making the accusation refuted it. There was no additional problem recorded once the group relocated to their proper seats.
“We are dedicated to delivering a safe and secure experience and take great pride in our fan environment.”
In his native state, Haliburton was making his playoff debut. About 90 miles northwest of Milwaukee, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, he was raised and completed his high school education.
Prior to Indiana tying the series on Tuesday, the Bucks had defeated the Pacers 109-94 in Game 1 on Sunday. Friday is the third game at Indianapolis.
