The general manager of Buffalo is clinging to the belief that they have found their match.
The main takeaway from Buffalo Bills General Manager Brandon Beane’s answers following the announcement of all the picks in the 2024 NFL Draft is that while the roster isn’t complete, there isn’t enough money at One Bills Drive for him to make any significant moves.
“The cap is what it is,” Beane acknowledged that the Bills are associated with numerous trade rumours, but insisted that they remain just that—rumors. “There won’t be a trade coming if you’re expecting something significant or anything similar.”
Although former All-Pro cornerback Tre’Davious White’s release on June 1 will make an additional $10 million available to the Bills in June, the Beane stated that that money has already been designated. Beane stated that the majority of the money will be spent on draft picks, undrafted free agents, and practice squad players. He also mentioned that he prefers to keep $4 million on hand in case he needs to go get a player in the middle of the season to cover any openings caused by injuries.
Beane mentioned how the league now permits teams to carry a higher number of practice squad players, which uses up more salary space than it did in seasons prior to 2020.
Can we take a brief break? Yes, he said, offering some encouragement to Bills Mafia members who weren’t thrilled with the draft selections. “Listen, we would add someone if there was a chance, and that makes sense.”

Beane also spoke about some of this year’s draft photos for a little while.
Ray Davis, RB: “He’s a dog.” He’s a rough young man. You watch his movies as though he’s just playing a violent game. He will give the group a little extra edge.
OL Sedrick Van Pran-Grainger: “We went down and worked him out, and we felt like he had what we wanted when we came back.” There is more competition there because he has primarily played centre but has also had some reps at guard. A young player who has the potential to start or at least be a reliable starter in the future.
OL Travis Clayton: “One of our Pro Scouts, R.J. Webb, was sent down to the South Florida workout. He thought, “Wow, this guy is really athletic.” Although I’ve never really watched him play football, his stats are astounding. We get an international body as well as an extra guy for camp out of it. Although obviously unpolished, his workout was excellent.
CB Daequan Hardy: “He can compete as a back and a corner, and we really liked his return skill.”
Remember that the Buffalo Bills of 2024 are a team in transition, and Beane promised to continue adding parts before training camp. These components might come in the shape of undrafted free agents or veteran players who are moved around the league by rookie signings.
In addition to wanting leaders who are tough, intelligent, and trustworthy, Beane stated, “We want to have an advantage in as many areas as we can.” “Adding some guys with edge behind these future leaders of the team is our focus, but we have some guys on the roster who will have their chance to step up already.”
