The Saints draft Kool-Aid in the 45th round, bringing him to New Orleans
OT Taliese Fauga was selected by the New Orleans Saints in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Saints tight end Taysom Hill revealed that the team selected University of Alabama cornerback Ga’Quincy Kool-Aid McKinstry with their second choice in the 2024 draft. When McKinstry was a baby, his grandmother called him “Kool-Aid” because she thought his smile looked like the Kool-Aid man. As a freshman at Alabama, he signed a non-exclusive contract with Kool-Aid.
McKinstry, who is originally from Birmingham, Alabama, won the 2021 High School Defensive Player of the Year award. Before declaring for the 2024 NFL draft, he played for the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2021, 2022, and 2023. McKinstry led the Tide in tackles and was selected to the first team of the 2023 All-American team.
Kool-Aid, welcome to New Orleans!
