Coach Dyrri McCain of Maury (Virginia) High isn’t overly shocked to learn that his former star wide receiver, KeAndre Lambert-Smith, will be playing for Hugh Freeze and the Auburn Tigers after graduating from Penn State. The group has, after all, been together for a very long period. After taking over at Liberty, Freeze and his staff worked hard to recruit McCain, who went on to become one of the country’s top wide receiver prospects and a Top 200 player for the 2020 class.
When Lambert-Smith entered the transfer portal, Freeze and his team saw the benefits of their prior partnership. After keeping a close eye on McCain throughout the previous five years, Auburn’s coaching staff finally found the player they were searching for on Wednesday when the gifted receiver decided to join the Tigers.
McCain says, “It has been a long relationship,” to Auburnundercover.com. Because there has been a bond there from the start, even some of the individuals who are fresh to the team and weren’t with them previously entered the process. It’s excellent. I am pleased for the child. He seems content to be there, and I have a good feeling that they are thrilled to have him.
