ESPN Head coach: Sean McDermott is shocked, tackle La’el Collins terminate his 1 year deal with Buffalo bill today..
After missing the entire previous season due to a knee injury he received while playing for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2022, Collins is making a try to rejoin the NFL. He rejoined the Dallas Cowboys practice squad at the end of the previous season, his seventh NFL season.
ESPN.com broke the initial news of Collins’s Buffalo agreement.
Collins, who is 6-foot-4 and 320 pounds, could provide the Bills seasoned depth behind Spencer Brown and Dion Dawkins, the team’s two returning starters. In his 89 career games, he has 86 starts and has had experience playing left guard during his rookie campaign.
Having entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of LSU in 2015, Collins has surmounted injuries and off-field problems. Prior to the inquiry into Collins’ ex-girlfriend’s murder, during which the police declared he was not a suspect in the killing, he was considered a top potential.
He had hip surgery in 2020, which kept him out of the game.
He received a five-game suspension the next year for breaking the NFL’s drug-abuse policy. With two games left on his suspension, Collins filed a complaint against the NFL, alleging in court records that the organization had bought off a drug-testing official. Collins’ agent refuted the claims with great vigor.
