Many players have attempted to offer Victor Wembanyama a “Welcome to the NBA” moment, but on Easter, the NBA actually handed him a $25,000 fine for tossing the game ball into the stands after the New York Knicks’ overtime victory on Good Friday.
Wemby became the first player to record 40 points, 20 rebounds, and 7 assists in a game, including hitting the game-winning three in overtime, and it happened during an exhilarating moment after the thrilling victory. The Spurs nearly overcame a 21-point deficit behind to Jalen Brunson’s career-high 61 points, largely thanks to his performance.

Given that he appeared to be glaring at Wemby after the latter flung the ball away, Brunson might have had other ideas on how to keep the ball.
Knowing Wemby, he’ll likely brush off the fine when questioned about it but also try to follow the future regulations prohibiting throwing objects—at least ones that aren’t his—into the stands.
