ESPN BREAKING NEWS: the headcoach Dan Quinn reported on SportsCenter that the Commanders have been getting trade………….

As the Washington Commanders decide what to do with the No. 2 choice in the 2024 NFL draft, other teams are assessing their interest in potentially trading out of that position.

ESPN’s Dan Quinn  revealed on SportsCenter on Saturday that the Commanders have been receiving trade offers, despite the fact that the league expects them to stay put and draft either Jayden Daniels or Drake Maye.
“They have been unpredictable, and I spoke with a team member who claimed they are still open to a comprehensive process. They have not made a definite decision on which path to go.

Everyone in the league expects Chicago to pick Caleb Williams at number one. So, Washington will send a presence to Jayden Daniels’ Pro Day at LSU and Drake Maye’s at UNC next week. They’re going to test it out and see what they like.

Kliff Kingsbury The OC will be there, as will head coach Dan Quinn, and they will have the cavalry. So they’ll continue with that sorting throughout the process. I know they’re getting calls and inquiries about the No. 2 selection from teams that may be moving up, but the general consensus around the league is that they’ll take one of those two quarterbacks that you seldom get a chance to take at No. 2 like they do now.

Daniels, the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner, had long been rumored to be Washington’s preferred second-round pick.

Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated stated earlier this week on NBC Sports Boston’s Areblla Early Edition (h/t Nick Goss of NBC Sports Boston) that Daniels appears to be “probably the leader in the clubhouse to be a Commander” at the moment.

Kliff Kingsbury, the new Washington offensive coordinator, is familiar with a quarterback whose skill set is similar to Daniels’. From 2019 until 2022, he served as Kyler Murray’s head coach with the Arizona Cardinals.

The New York Giants (No. 6), Minnesota Vikings (Nos. 11 and 23), Denver Broncos (No. 12), and Las Vegas Raiders (No. 13) stand out as quarterback-needy teams willing to make a move up if the opportunity arises.

Given how long it has been since the Commanders had a potential franchise quarterback, and the fact that they picked second overall in a draft with numerous possibilities worth selecting at that position, it appears unlikely that they would seriously consider a trade.

It would be a mistake not to consider potential offers from other teams, but the smart money is on Daniels or Maye landing on the Commanders with the second choice.
