On Tuesday, Alabama football officially revealed Kalen DeBoer’s pay.
After this past college football season, legendary Alabama head coach Nick Saban made the decision to retire, and the Crimson Tide appointed Washington’s Kalen DeBoer as their next head coach. Although DeBoer has been with Alabama for a few months, his pay was revealed just this past Tuesday.
ESPN’s Chris Low reported that first-year Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer will earn an average of $10.875 million annually, placing him in the top five nationally among college football coaches in terms of compensation.

The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees authorized his eight-year contract on Monday. DeBoer will receive $10 million in the first year of the agreement, which runs through December 31, 2031. Under the terms of the agreement, his salary will rise by $250,000 per year to $11.75 million in the last year.
Although Kalen DeBoer still had some positives at Washington, the head coaching post at Alabama football was undoubtedly an appealing one. It’s evident today that the Crimson Tide had to extend a large contract offer to him.
While Alabama records did reveal the amount the university paid DeBoer in February, giving people a rough notion of his pay scale, this information is now official and available to the public. Among the highest paid coaches in the nation is DeBoer.
Alabama understood they had to move quickly to find a new head coach because losing one of the greatest coaches in history was devastating. It will be fascinating to watch what DeBoer can accomplish with the Crimson Tide after his excellent performance in Washington.
