The Commanders have included Fowler, Dante Jr.
With the Washington Commanders, whom he hired as head coach earlier in the summer, newly appointed head coach Dan Quinn is quickly reorganizing his defence. Naturally, Quinn assumed the helm as head coach of the Commanders following his tenure as defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys, who this past season produced one of the best defensive performances in recent NFL memory (regular season).
It appears that Quinn’s success has inspired the Commanders brass to want to add a few players Quinn was close to during his time with the Cowboys.
“BREAKING: Sources tell @BleacherReport that free agent pass rusher Dante Fowler Jr. intends to sign with the #Commanders.” On X, the social networking site that was once known as Twitter, Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report stated that Dan Quinn is “continuing to bolster his defensive line.”
Naturally, the 29-year-old Fowler played for Dan Quinn when he was the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons a few years ago and was a member of the Cowboys’ renowned defensive line this past season.
Quinn has made a name for himself as one of the NFL’s top defensive strategists throughout his career; his work leading the Seattle Seahawks’ feared “Legion of Boom” defence in the early 2010s is probably the most notable example of this. Quinn’s tenure as head coach has been more of a mixed bag; the Falcons fired him after he repeatedly showed a tendency to blow large leads.
The NFL Draft is the next big event on the Commanders’ agenda for next month.
