DEAL DONE: Pro Bowl quarterback and Falcons agree to a four-year contract

The quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons has been identified.

To join the NFC South team, Kirk Cousins has agreed to a four-year contract. The Pro Bowl quarterback’s four-year contract is for $180 million ($45 million on average per year), according to Ian Rapoport.
With the addition of Cousins, the Falcons will have an offensive line that includes first-round picks in tight end Kyle Pitts, wide receiver Drake London, and running back Bijan Robinson.

The 35-year-old quarterback, who was on track to record career highs through eight games, is coming off of a 2023 campaign that ended early due to an Achilles injury. A squad that hasn’t had a winning record since its final postseason trip in 2017 will be led by Cousins.

Cousins has only had two losing seasons in his full-time starting career. Among current quarterbacks, the former Commander and Viking is fourth in throwing touchdowns (270) and fifth in passing yards (39,471).

The deal solved the Falcons’ obvious quarterback need, and it likely ended the Tylor Heinicke and Desmond Riddler era in Atlanta and started a new one with the Cousins.
