DONE DEAL: Texans sign a one-year deal with veteran defensive tackle from Jaguars

The AFC South is where Foley Fatukasi will remain.

On Sunday, the defensive lineman inked a one-year contract with the Houston Texans, following his release by the Jacksonville Jaguars last week.
In the 2022 offseason, Fatukasi signed a three-year, $30 million contract with Jacksonville. Alongside DaVon Hamilton, he was meant to be a complementary component for the Jags’ interior. However, injuries ended that ambition in both seasons, and now the 29-year-old will be playing for a division opponent.

In his two years at Duval, Fatukasi participated in 30 games and had 48 tackles overall. In 2022, he only had 1.5 sacks. Due to his departure rather than signing as a free agency, the Jaguars did not get a compensatory selection, but they did save $3.5 million in salary space.

The Texans defence that gave up the sixth-fewest running yards the previous season will welcome Fatukasi.
