JUST IN: Falcons owner overarching expectation and Raheem Morris description amid Falcons situation

Everyone associated with the Falcons, including fans and Arthur Blank, is eager to win now.

The owner of the team did not terminate Arthur Smith for showing Raheem Morris patience. The 2024 season won’t, of course, determine Morris’ future in the end, but the general goal is to outperform the 2023 campaign, which would entail eight or more victories.

Morris takes over in a far more favourable position than his predecessor did. Last season, the Falcons were anticipated to contend, but their quarterback performance let them down. Some would argue that Arthur Smith is the primary cause of Atlanta’s problems. It isn’t the case, in my opinion.

Arthur Smith, Raheem Morris, and Arthur Blank have all said as much, if you still need evidence that quarterback play was the main offender.

Blank claimed that every head coaching prospect he spoke with agreed that the quarterback issue was “something that needs work.”

“Everyone, including our fans, you, and everyone else in the NFL, can clearly see that we need to figure out how we’re going to improve in 2024 and going forward, through trades, free agency, the draft, or whatever other means possible,” Blank continued.

Smith thought that the Falcons’ quarterback performance also hindered the squad. He made Blank the exact same argument in an attempt to persuade the company’s owner to allow him a fourth season.

Josh Kendall of The Athletic writes, “According to league sources, part of former head coach Arthur Smith’s pitch for a fourth season in Atlanta was his belief that acquiring a new quarterback would unlock an offence with the potential to be the league’s best.”
Raheem Morris was brutally honest about it just the other day. “We might not be standing here at the podium right now if our quarterback play was better.”

The Falcons club is sometimes characterized as a quarterback away or as having a great but underperforming group. For this reason, there is anticipation that Atlanta will significantly improve by 2024. Morris called it a “competitive urgency” issue.
Although the situation is not dire, the Falcons’ new leadership needs to understand that time is of the essence. Raheem Morris appears to be aware of the situation with his new team.
