ESPN BREAKING NEWS: Kalen DeBoer On Pace To Be The Fifth-Highest Paid Coach In College Football At Alabama

Kalen DeBoer’s hiring by Alabama as Nick Saban’s replacement was a major splash. After selecting the current national championship runner-up to succeed the greatest college football coach of all time in retirement, the Crimson Tide needed to make sure the program would not suffer.

The operative term here is “slight,” even though there was a slight discount associated with the transfer of power.
The official terms of DeBoer’s contract with Alabama are yet unknown. The board of trustees has not yet formally approved his hiring. The accord might still collapse in theory. It may, but it won’t.

Kalen DeBoer Contract Alabama

DeBoer is being paid in the meantime in accordance with the previously agreed upon, but still pending approval, terms.

Kalen DeBoer has a large fortune!
In February, the school paid its new head football coach $834,978, according to the school’s final records, which Michael Casagrande first disclosed. Multiplying that figure by 12 months yields an annual salary of $10,019,736.

At $10 million annually, DeBoer is the fifth-highest paid coach in the nation, after Mike Norvell and Lincoln Riley. This payout amount is assuming that it stays constant for the entire year. His pay is marginally higher than that of Josh Heupel, Eli Drinkwitz, Brian Kelly, and Lane Kiffin, but it is lower than that of only Ryan Day, Steve Sarkisian, Kirby Smart, and Dabo Swinney.

The 49-year-old has come a long way in just a year!

Last season, Kalen DeBoer had a salary of $4.2 million from Washington. Before departing for the SEC, the Huskies allegedly made him an offer of a $9.4 million raise. Seemingly offering a more generous compensation plan, the Crimson Tide accepted what could be the most demanding position in college athletics.

Right now, no more information is available to the public. The amount Alabama would have to spend to buy out DeBoer should his tenure not go as planned is still unknown. After the trustees previously ratify the contract in the upcoming weeks, such information will be available.

Given his salary, there is a great deal of pressure on DeBoer to succeed quickly. A lull is not possible here.
